PRACTITIONERSNATUROTHERAPY PRACTITIONER (R-PNM/CNP)Minimum of 2000 hours (two natural medicine modalities) of training and experience in at least two areas of Natural Medicine including basic sciences in Anatomy and Physiology Note: BNMDP-NA/NMCC reserves the right to conduct competency examination or recommend upgrading when deem necessary before registration will be granted HOURS IN CLINICAL PRACTICE/APPRENTICESHIP/INTERNSHIPEXPLANATION: In the "old days" most educators went to great lengths to make sure that learners put in enough hours to earn their grades. While "time on task" is important, what is more important is that a person comes away from a course with skills and understandings that will help them in life. The apprenticeship system in most guilds and trades required a person to be able to do perform certain skilled actions or produce items of a certain quality before being promoted. These education methods are seen in Johann Amos Comenius (1592-1670), John Milton Gregory in the Seven Laws of Teaching, Jean Louis Rodolphe Agassiz, expressed by a student as "In the Laboratory with Agassiz." This Council’s points are "hours spend do not an education make," and practical outcomes are what is important. Learning does take time, but practical, life changing results should be the focus. HOURS EXPERIENCE IN THE NATURAL HEALING ARTSThere are many forms of the natural healing arts, from traditional medicine, to Asian medicine, to the disciplines of naturopathy, to psychology and psychiatry. The admittance Committee has agreed to be flexible in accepting a wide variety of experiences as a formal part of this application process. A certain amount of experience and application in the natural healing arts is mandatory for acceptance. Specialty CertificationBNMDP-NA recognized that the North American health care system is bursting at it seems due to addiction related diseases and pain related to injuries or other causes. There is a tremendous demand for qualified addictions and pain management specialist. BNMDP-NA is the only organization in North America that ensures that practitioners in this field are certified. Potential registrant at this level must have at least 500 hours of training and clinical experience in at least two of the following modalities; Lifestyle Counseling, stress management, nutritional counseling, hypnotherapy, and biofeedback, acupuncture , auricular acupuncture, bio-energetic and well as counseling on environmental factors that affects wellbeing of individuals. NOTE: CERTIFICATIONS UNDER BNMDP-NA AND NMCC ARE NOT ACADEMIC DEGREES. REGISTRANT AT THE PRACTITIONER LEVEL MUST PROVIDE SUPPORTING EVIDENCE OF 2000 HOURS OF POST SECONDARY EDUCATION AND BE SUCCESSFUL IN CERTIFYING EXAMS TO BE REGISTERED NO EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE.
